"Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children." -William Makepeace Thackeray
Growing up there is a special status that your parents have when compared to everyone else, but recently i've noticed my parents have been demystified. This got me wondering when exactly this change occurred. When you're little, your parents are the very picture of an adult. While i'm not sure if it's because you're supposed to respect/love your parents or whatever, but there is definitely a psychological difference between how we see them vs. everyone else. Even when you're quite a bit older, they somehow still retain this status (even when compared to other people their age). I think it was about the time my age hit half of what my parents' was, i looked at them and started seeing something totally different. I saw more flaws, more differences, and ultimately less 'divinity'. I can't say i love or respect them any less, prolly more; but the pedestal i put them on when i was a kid is no longer there.

I think i've given up on consuming mass quantities of red meat. I've noticed that since i've been eating mostly chicken, fish, and pork, that i've been feeling alot better. When i eat red meat too frequently (more than twice a week) my stomach gets tight and my back hurts. I'm pretty sure it's because it's harder to digest, and i really don't like to eat 'heavy' foods. With rare occasion, i've pretty much stopped wanting burgers, pizza, most pasta, etc. Of course when your cooking tastes better (to me atleast) or comparable to most restaurants it is a bit easier to omit these foods. Now, by no stretch of the imagination am i going veggie, i'm still quite a carnivore, but my preferred diet has drastically changed in the past 6-9 months.
"The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood. It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation – enlightened as it is – if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men." -Samuel Adams
Now i can't speak for everyone else, nor would i want to, but i think it's way past time we either do away with or highly restrict lobbyist. Honestly, i feel they are one of the many things that are destroying this country and should have no foot to stand upon. Now, when i say lobbyist, i mean the ones that make large gifts or donations to a politician in an effort to gain special consideration for their issues. On a political stage, by no means should your financial standing have any direct impact on the importance of your issues or your representation. Sadly, i don't think this will change and it's only going to get alot worse. Atleast it'd be a bit easier if we could put little patches on the politicians like the outfits NASCAR drivers wear.
Am I alone in thinking this world would be alot better off if we had another bubonic scale plague? Something that'd wipe out a large portion of the world's population and then simply just disappear? Now i'm not totally heartless and would desire one with minimal pain/discomfort and would prefer the people i care about made it through, but i'm not overly picky.
Random link that pissed me off.
